Sindabezi Island Bush Camp

Sindabezi Island is unique, an idyllic bush camp on a private island on the Zambezi River. It is the only luxury camp in the Victoria Falls region, and was recently voted as one of the best remote places to stay in the world. It is run by Tongabezi Lodge.

A stay at Sindabezi Island camp begins with either a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi, with good game viewing opportunities en route.

Sindabezi has just completed a total rebuild, and there are five new chalets, all set on stilts. The Honeymoon chalets now boast baths, and all accommodation has distinctive 'loos with a view'. In addition, the Camp now boasts state-of-the-art solar panelling set amidst the thatch. This means that all chalets now enjoy hot water and bedside lighting.

The Camp has also been equipped with two star-gazing decks, and the secluded mokoro deck is tucked away at the end of island, whilst the other deck faces the Zimbabwe side of the river and is a wonderful spot for dining and game watching.

The Island is ideal for a honeymoon safari, but also lends itself as a private venue for families, or small groups of friends. If the Island is booked on a private basis, you have your own guide, boat and vehicle throughout your stay.

The main camp area is set on the sand and is a perfect place to relax, unwind and simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this tiny island, with staff on hand to guarantee your every comfort.

At night, the camp is magically transformed…. And guests enjoy a romantic and charming 5 star dining experience, under a canopy of stars.

You are still able to do all of the activities available at the main Tongabezi Lodge, but with an added 20-minute scenic boat transfer to and from Sindabezi Island. Whilst staying at Sindabezi you will have to chance to visit the Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, enjoy a picnic lunch on a deserted island, do a guided canoe excursion on the River; there are also sunrise or sunset River cruises. In addition, explore the Falls and gorges on a guided walk, or visit the local museums, or spend some time at the Tongabezi Trust School. There is also the chance to visit the local market, or take a guided bicycle tour to the local village.

Relaxing on the island also has its rewards, with the chance of some game viewing, along with some excellent birding. Many guests combine Sindabezi with a stay the sister property, Tongabezi Lodge, a short boat ride away.
